2021 Shiraz Nouveau
92/100
Fresh face of Hunter Shiraz here, made, I suspect, more in the Beaujolais style. Quite different, and pretty delicious. Recommended.
Mercer Wines has been fermenting for many years. Aaron started over 20 years ago selling wine and scrubbing tanks in the Hunter Valley. Learning from local legends, he soon realised the joy of making wine and has continued his education all over the world.
Mercer is one of NSW’s most awarded and versatile winemakers. With extensive experience working in France, Germany, Canada and California, he is best known for his positive impact on organic and preservative free winemaking in Australia.
Aaron has settled back in the Hunter Valley with his wife, Alison, and children, Will, Audrey and little Charlie. He adores the kids visiting the winery, squashing grapes during vintage or simply being proud to see the new ‘Mercer Wines’.
Aaron is crafting sustainable varietals from NSW with his flair of accuracy and creativity. Visit Mercer Wines new Cellqar Door – April 2024 HERE

2021 PF Rouge
Ripe blackberry, meaty and spicy, sage leaf, a musky bubblegum sort of perfume to brighten it up. Juicy, but with some complexity and interest.

2021 PF Rosé
92/100
Proving that preservative free wines can be good. Pulsing with energy, tightly wound yet offering good flesh and a long length of flavour.
